About West Wythenshawe Gym
Working to help the Community
West Wythenshawe Community Hub is a registered charity based at the former Royal Oak Community Centre in Baguley, South Manchester. We are dedicated to bringing people together, improving wellbeing, and creating positive opportunities for local residents.
With strong roots in amateur boxing, we are building on this foundation to create a wider community offer that supports people of all ages and backgrounds. Our hub provides a safe, welcoming space where individuals can take part in physical activity, socialise, develop new skills, and access support.
We work closely with local partners, organisations, and residents to ensure our services reflect real community needs. Our aim is simple: to create a healthier, stronger, and more connected West Wythenshawe.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the health, wellbeing, and life chances of people across our community.
We do this by:
- Promoting sport, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles
- Supporting young people to achieve their goals, particularly through boxing
- Providing opportunities for social connection, learning, and personal development
- Working in partnership with local organisations to deliver inclusive services
We believe that everyone should have access to opportunities that help them thrive, regardless of background or circumstance.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a vibrant, inclusive community hub that offers something for everyone.
We aim to:
- Develop a modern, well-maintained facility for community use
- Keep boxing at the heart of the hub while expanding into wider activities
- Offer a diverse programme that supports all age groups
- Build a strong sense of community pride and belonging
Ultimately, we want to be a trusted and valued centre that plays a key role in improving lives across West Wythenshawe.
Our Mission
Helping the Community
West Wythenshawe Community Hub provides a growing range of activities and support to meet local needs. These include:
- Amateur boxing training and coaching
- Fitness sessions for all abilities and ages
- Youth development and mentoring programmes
- Social activities to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing
- Community events and partnership-led initiatives
We are committed to expanding our offer over time, ensuring we provide relevant and accessible opportunities for everyone—from young people looking for direction, to older residents wanting to stay active and connected.
Our approach is built on partnership. We work alongside local authorities, schools, community groups, and support organisations to deliver services that make a real difference. By listening to the community and collaborating with others, we aim to create lasting positive change.
